Day 1 in Singapore I am back in Singapore now for holiday. I have to keep reminding myself that I am in holiday, not working away from office. Have a quick catch up with my mum once I reached home, flipped the lappie open, hit the keyboard systematically with all the familiar keystrokes and start working away with my emails and follow-ups. The word “holiday” is out of my dictionary for 2 hours before my mum nudge me that it is time to leave home for her regular health check. Went outside, embracing the Singapore hot humidity with a grimace, my mum just burst out laughing while she saw my expression. A quick trip to the doctor assures us that my mum is aging in good health. My heart tightens when I saw her from two steps behind. I can feel her looniness and helplessness inside her sometimes. After going out for 24 hours without sleep, we finally reach home once again. I have a shower and check more emails. Within 5 mins after my head hit the pillow, I am “dead”. Day 2 in Singapore A new day. Another day for me to enjoy myself. It is too hot outside to go out. I waited till late afternoon before I stepped out of the house. I have planned to do some decent shopping today for a good 2 hours before meeting David up for dinner and a quick coffee. Surprisingly, he actually finished work early at about 4 to meet up with me. Not much shopping done then~ That is all good though. We did some good catch up and have some good laugh. I enjoyed the night and his company. His cheeriness and openness in chatting make me feel easy and relaxed. Being a nice guy, he brought me to look at the mobile phones and ask for the prices for me. Those shop owners and sales do look quite fierce and I just would not dare to go near the shop and ask those questions at all if he is not with me. Thought: I think I understand what he meant now when he says he feels relaxed when he chats with me. With that understanding, I am wondering whether I am wrong with my feelings in my heart. Day 3 in Singapore I caught a bit more sleep and went out to Chinatown with mom to have some foreign currency exchanged. We went separate way after lunch and I went to travel agency to get her the ticket to go to Brisbane in June. She should be happy about that. Finally I got to City Hall to do some real shopping and met up with Henry tonight for dinner. He has reminded me the Singaporean way of thinking, talking and behaviour which is totally different from Australian. I am not saying that I was not behaving the way he does now, but being in Australia expose me to a better way of living and attitude towards life. I was reading my old dairy (yes, the good old on paper diary) before I leave Australia for my holiday, and the way I think is similar to the way he does. Day 4 in Singapore Yes, mom being mom, she decided that we should go to Chinatown for more foreign exchange. I missed sitting in a car and comfortably arriving the destination. All the same, we reached there really early at about 9am and have some breakfast before going over. After doing all the businesses, we went separate ways… again. I went to do my shopping… once again. Met my god-brother at CityHall and gosh, he have not changed much!! Being a good boy, he companies me to do my shopping for one whole day till the shops close. Thank you, Mike. You have been a good boy and I am sure Santa will get you a good gift this year unlike last year when you ditch me for your friend. Thought: I missed him. Day 5 in Singapore YAY!! It is raining. That means today is going to be cooler. Mum has told Teresa to pack her bag, Teresa think it is still too early to pack. So I call up Linda and see what plan do she have today. While I am typing this 2 pages entry, we are going to meet up at City Link later after lunch and do some catch up. I have not seen her for a while now and is looking forward to it. I am back and I am tired. Went to Suntec City and Orchard Road for some shopping. It is just craziness. i saw the marching along Orchard Road and a Lamborgini outside Mandarin hotel driven by this young chap with his skinny model girlfriend. Yellow Lamborgini~! It look great. I have to start packing now... Mum is going to starting nagging very soon if I do not pack. |
